We have a variety of test panels in our showroom to help you choose a colour or effect.

However we are always happy to spray a test panel in your chosen colour so you can be sure of your choice, before we spray the car!

CANDY:

This is a very special technique which requires primer, then base coats in silver or gold, then candy dye applied in the lacquer, then clear coat. The finished paintwork is then wet flatted, lacquered again and then professionally polished. Just see the base coat gold shining through the candy when the sun hits it!

SMALL METAL FLAKE:

Often known as ‘bling’. This is a fairly cost effective way of adding extra sparkle to any standard paintwork. Once the main colour has been applied then small flakes are added to the first coat of lacquer, which is then covered by several additional coats of clear lacquer. It is normally available in gold, silver or multicolour which was what we used forthis yellow Rover, or silver which we used on the black Rover.

FULL METAL FLAKE:

This larger flake requires many coats of lacquer to cover the flake. It is thenwet flatted and lacquered again, then flatted down again and polished. This Fiesta had in total 40 coats of primer, paint, lacquerand clear!
This means the job takes muchlonger than most spray work, and costs considerably more.

CHAMELEON:

To create this variable colour effect the bodywork must first be perfect. Primer followed by black base coat is applied and then the chameleon paint is sprayed on. This is then lacquered, rubbed down and polished. The cost is relatively high as the paint itself is very expensive and the preparation time is longer.

EXCLUSIVE EFFECTS:

By combining several aspects of flake, dye and inks in the paint, we can create exclusive colours and effects such as on this BMW, where a unique blend of flake, and inks in the lacquer have given the car a depth of finish and a subtle change of colour from black to burgundy depending on the viewing and lighting perspectives.
